Are woodpeckers the sculptors among the birds? In spring 2021 the artist Elisabeth Wagner, professor at the Muthesius University of the Arts and Design in Kiel, heads for the Jenischpark with her sculpture students and knocks on the door of the Ernst Barlach Haus. After students of art history curated the exhibition ‘Becoming, That’s the Word!’ Scenes for Barlach’s 150th Anniversary in spring 2020, now it’s the turn of young artists, who will present new works, some of them specially created for this location. From audio to z-axis, from concrete to cotton, the tour marks out a wide range of present-day sculpture: full of ideas, surprising and witty; with accents on the material and the transcendent – and not without connections to Barlach!

A catalogue documenting the exhibition will appear on 2 May.

Works by Gamze Arslan, Nora Berndt, Leandra Bigale, Melina Bigale, Hannah Bohnen, Côme Ferrasse, Lisa Friedrichs-Dachale, Nikolai Renée Goldmann, Ana Gomez, Nikola Hausen, Max Holzer, Annemarie Jessen, Lisa Karnauke, Benedikt Lübcke, Sanna Maier, Lilian Nachtigall, Anne Nitzpan, Fidelia Schäftlein, Sander Schaper, Constantin Schröder, Oskar Schroeder, Regine Schulz, Larah Stieper, Alina Studt, Elisabeth Wagner and Marissa Wittenhagen.
